Spotify Free ads,
handled.
Spotify itself, untouched.

AdSnooze sits quietly on your desktop, hears the moment Spotify slips in an ad, and uses your device's own volume controls — then brings your music back the instant it ends. No Premium. No modding Spotify.

the actual AdSnooze pill, live

Idle

Waiting for Spotify. AdSnooze stays out of the way until your music starts.

→

Playing

Your music passes straight through. Untouched.

Ad handled

An ad starts — AdSnooze handles it in under a second using the device's volume controls. Music's back the moment it ends.

How it works

Three steps. Then never think about it again.

  1. 01

    Install AdSnooze

One tiny ~2 MB installer. No account, no sign-up, no configuration. It opens as a small glass pill on your desktop.

  2. 02

    Open Spotify like normal

Keep using the Spotify app exactly as you do. AdSnooze just listens for the ad/song transition in the background.

  3. 03

    Ads are handled automatically

When an ad starts, AdSnooze uses the device's own volume controls while it plays. When the ad ends, the volume returns to normal automatically.

Why AdSnooze

Small, safe, and quiet by design.

🛡️

Safe by design

AdSnooze never modifies Spotify — no patching, no DLL injection, no account hijacking. It only uses the device's own volume controls. Nothing to ban, nothing to break on the next Spotify update.

∅

Free, no Spotify Premium

The whole point is not paying $11.99/month just to skip ads. Core ad handling is free, forever.

⚡

Tiny & near-invisible

A ~2 MB install that idles under 0.5% CPU and ~80 MB RAM. Built on Tauri + Rust, not a bloated Electron wrapper.

🔒

The app is telemetry-free

No tracking, no phone-home, no analytics SDK inside the app. Any "ads handled" counters stay on your machine and are opt-in.

✦

Actually beautiful

A true-transparent glass pill with native rounded corners and a live spectrum that morphs into MUTE when a Spotify Free ad is detected. Drag it anywhere; shrink it to a tiny dot.

The trust part

What AdSnooze never does.

Most "Spotify ad blockers" patch or mod the Spotify app — which can get your account flagged and breaks on every update. AdSnooze takes the boring, safe road.

  • Patch, mod, or repackage the Spotify app
  • Inject code or DLLs into the Spotify process
  • Touch your account, password, or login tokens
  • Block or skip ads at the network level
  • Send any data off your machine
  • Detects ads via documented OS media APIs
  • Uses the device's volume controls for ads
  • Restores your audio the instant the ad ends
  • Runs entirely locally, telemetry-free
  • Leaves Spotify completely untouched

FAQ

The honest answers.

Will this get my Spotify account banned?

No. AdSnooze never touches the Spotify app or your account. It detects Spotify Free ads and uses the device's own volume controls while they play. It does not modify Spotify and does not break Spotify's terms of service.

Does it block ads?

No. The ad continues to play in Spotify. AdSnooze uses the device's own volume controls while it plays, then stops when the ad ends. It does not skip, remove, or interfere with Spotify playback.

How fast does it react?

Ad handling starts within about a second of an ad starting and ends within about a second of it ending, using Windows' published media APIs.

Windows says "Unknown publisher" / SmartScreen warns me. Is it malware?

No. The installer just isn't code-signed yet (signing is a paid certificate we're setting up). Until then, Windows SmartScreen shows a caution on any unsigned app. Click More info → Run anyway. The build is open about exactly what it does, and you can verify the download's SHA-256 below.

How is this different from EZBlocker or BlockTheSpot?

EZBlocker takes the same volume-control approach (it's the closest cousin) but is Windows-only and dated. BlockTheSpot, Spicetify and similar tools patch the Spotify client itself — powerful, but they can flag your account and break on Spotify updates. AdSnooze deliberately never modifies Spotify, and runs on a modern cross-platform codebase.

Does it phone home or collect my data?

No — the AdSnooze app itself is telemetry-free: no tracking, no analytics SDK, no phone-home. Any “ads handled” counters are stored locally on your machine and are opt-in. Your listening data never leaves your computer. This website (adsnooze.com) uses Google Analytics, but only if you accept the cookie banner, so we can see which posts and ads bring visitors here.

Does it need my Spotify login?

No. AdSnooze never asks for, stores, or uses your Spotify account, password, or OAuth tokens. It watches the operating system's media signal, not your account.

Does it work with Spotify Premium?

It is built for the free tier; Premium already has no ads. It will not hurt anything on Premium — there are simply no free-tier ads for AdSnooze to handle.

How much does it cost?

Core ad handling is free, forever, with no time limit, and the free version always keeps working. If you want to back AdSnooze, the Founders Edition is the early-bird offer: pay what you want, once, with a $3 minimum and $7 suggested, no maximum. It adds the gold Founders skin, your name on the About screen, and AdSnooze Pro included when it's released. Early-bird keys are limited, starting with a first batch of 100, and sold until Pro launches. After that, Pro will be a one-time purchase of $9 to $15. Nothing renews.

Will paid support require an account or always-online license check?

No. The Founders Edition uses a paste-in license key that AdSnooze verifies on your own computer. The free app does not require an account, card, or license key.

Can I donate without buying a license?

Yes. The Founders Edition checkout is itself pay what you want with a $3 minimum, so that's the easiest way to support and get a key. If you'd rather not go through checkout, you can tip any amount on Ko-fi (ko-fi.com/shadowglasssoftware) as pure support — Ko-fi supporters who give $3 or more also receive a complimentary Founders Edition license key, emailed to the address they paid with. The license key stays the only thing that unlocks supporter features, so donations and authorization never get mixed together.

How heavy is it on my PC?

Featherweight: a ~2 MB download, under 0.5% idle CPU, and under 80 MB RAM. It's a tiny glass pill built on Tauri + Rust, not a background hog.

Is the source code open?

Not currently public. The trust substitute: AdSnooze is telemetry-free and explicit about exactly what it does and doesn't do — this page documents the full mechanism and publishes the installer's SHA-256 so you can verify the binary you downloaded.

How do I uninstall it?

Like any Windows app — Settings → Apps → AdSnooze → Uninstall, or via the Start-menu shortcut. It leaves nothing running and stores no cloud data.

Changelog

What changed in v0.4.4.

v0.4.4 — new app icon and a Founders mini-pill label

AdSnooze has a new app icon everywhere it shows up — taskbar, Start menu, system tray, and the installer. Founders Edition supporters using the Founders theme now see a small “Founder” label on the mini pill; tiny mode keeps the standard ADSNOOZE wordmark and fills it with the Founders gold-to-violet gradient. Founders price is now shown as $3 minimum, $7 suggested, no maximum. Panel wording: ads “handled”.

v0.4.3 — Founders Edition and an About section

Paste a Founders Edition key into the panel to unlock the gold-to-violet Founders theme. The key is checked on your own computer, with no account and no online check. A new About section shows your version, and Founders supporters can put their own name there. The Pro preview now lists the planned Pro features and pricing.

v0.4.2 — free release: overlay, tray, and state fixes

AdSnooze now keeps the pill above a linked player pop-out, adds a tray icon with Show/Quit so closing the window never leaves a headless process, fixes refresh getting stuck in standby/yellow, fixes the ad-handling toggle's state going stale after view changes, prevents linked-drag drift, and stops tiny-mode lock/link tooltips from cropping.

v0.4.0 — smoother pill, smarter launch behavior

AdSnooze remembers your last view and screen position, launches only that view, tightens mini-pill spacing, improves drag behavior, clarifies the Cycle View tooltip, and adds Launch on startup plus Auto-open with your player settings.
